Dr Muserere is a specialist orthopaedic surgeon serving the Nelson Mandela Bay community. He believes that a clear understanding of a patient’s condition is an important first step in addressing it. His approach to care is centred on careful assessment and appropriate treatment, with the aim of alleviating pain, correcting or preventing deformity, and improving mobility and function.
After completing his MBChB degree, Dr Muserere specialised in orthopaedic surgery, training at Livingstone Hospital in Gqeberha and Tygerberg Hospital in Cape Town. During this time, he obtained his Fellowship of the College of Orthopaedic Surgeons of South Africa, FC Orth (SA), while concurrently completing a Master of Medicine (MMed) in Orthopaedic Surgery through Walter Sisulu University.
Clinical focus
Dr Muserere has particular interests in primary and revision hip replacement, knee replacement, orthopaedic trauma, and limb reconstruction and deformity correction. He believes that patients should play a central role in decisions about their care, with treatment choices made through shared decision-making with a clear understanding of the available options. His approach also places importance on multidisciplinary collaboration and teamwork in providing appropriate patient care. He remains involved in the public service as a sessional orthopaedic surgeon at Livingstone Hospital and contributes to undergraduate medical teaching at Nelson Mandela University.
Beyond the consulting room
Dr Muserere is a husband and father of two sons. He enjoys reading, hiking, travelling and the occasional game of basketball. A passionate sports supporter, he follows The Arsenal.
